ExelentOS User Guide
Welcome to ExelentOS! This guide will help you get started with your new operating system, providing tips and instructions for using KDE Plasma 6, Discover, and other default apps.
Getting Started
First Boot

Log in with your chosen user credentials to access the desktop.

When you boot into ExelentOS for the first time, you’ll be greeted by the Welcome Screen. Explore quick links to:
- Update your system.
- Install additional apps.
- open the wiki.
Desktop Overview
ExelentOS uses KDE Plasma 6, a modern and customizable desktop environment. Here’s what you’ll see:
- Panel: At the bottom of the screen, featuring:
- Application Launcher: Access your apps.
- Task Manager: Switch between open windows.
- System Tray: View notifications, network status, and more.

Desktop: Right-click to customize widgets or change the wallpaper.
- Discover Software Center: Quickly install and manage applications.
Customizing ExelentOS
Appearance
- Open System Settings from the Application Launcher.
- Navigate to Appearance to:
- Change your desktop theme.
- Switch icon sets.
- Choose a cursor style.
- install new themes and icons
Widgets
- Right-click on the desktop and select Add Widgets.
- Browse available widgets and drag them onto your desktop or panel.
Shortcuts
- Open System Settings and go to Shortcuts.
- Customize keyboard shortcuts to streamline your workflow.
Using Discover
Discover is your hub for finding and installing software.
Installing Applications
- Open Discover from the Application Launcher.
- Use the search bar to find your desired application.
- Click Install and wait for the process to complete.
Managing Updates
- Open Discover and navigate to Updates.
- Click Update All to keep your system and apps up-to-date.
Default Applications
Here are some of the pre-installed applications on ExelentOS:
- File Manager: Dolphin – Organize and manage your files.
- Web Browser: Floorp – Browse the internet and tailor it to your needs.
- Office Suite: LibreOffice – Create and edit documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
- Media Player: Dragon Player – Watch videos and listen to music.
- Terminal: Konsole – Execute commands and scripts.
System Management
Settings
- Open System Settings from the Application Launcher.
- Manage system-wide preferences such as:
- Network: Set up Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections.
- Users: Add or manage user accounts.
- Notifications: Configure alert preferences.
Task Manager
- Use the Task Manager on the panel to:
- Switch between open windows.
- Monitor background tasks.
Power Management
- Open System Settings and navigate to Power Management.
- Adjust settings for screen dimming, sleep, and battery performance.
Troubleshooting
Applications Not Working
- Open the Terminal with
Ctrl + Alt + T
. - Run the following command to reinstall the app:
sudo pacman -S <application-name>
or uninstall and reinstall using Discover
Slow Performance
- Open System Monitor to check CPU and RAM usage.
- Close unnecessary applications or processes.
Network Issues
- Open Network Settings from the System Tray.
- Ensure your network adapter is enabled.
